The Specialist Accreditation Scheme is administered by the Law Institute of Victoria and Accredited Specialists must have:-

• A minimum of five years full time practice experience
• A minimum of three years in the area of specialisation
• Must maintain a high degree of professional development in the area of specialisation
• Must have passed a comprehensive examination process including a three hour exam, take home exam and a one hour mock interview developed by legal professional experts and must apply for reaccreditation every three years.

There are approximately 17,000 lawyers practising in the State of Victoria of whom only 63 have been appointed Accredited Specialists in Wills and Estates. Hugh Radford obtained his specialist accreditation in 2010.
